Her heart was beating so hard, she felt it hitting her inside.
They were chasing her!  Jo Beth ran to the end of the hallway
and through the stairwell door.  She pounded down the stairs.   
She made it down only one flight before they caught up to her.

Jo Beth felt each bullet as it slammed through her chest and hit
the cement wall behind her.   They hurt so much.  She felt
herself die, and started crying inside her mind.   She watched
her body slump down to the floor.  Then, she didn't feel
anything.   Her blood kept coming out for a while.

Jo Beth woke up in her usual puddle of sweat.   She was so
tired, and so very, very sad.   She didn't want to go back to
sleep because she knew what would happen. She tried to stay
awake, but she couldn't keep her eyes open...
