Jo Beth's first neurologist, Doctor X, ordered her to be hooked
up to a machine that sent painful jolts through her hips and
legs, which triggered the longest and most intense grunting
jerks of her upper body that Jo Beth had ever had.   (She had
learned they were called "myoclonic" jerks.)

The technician doing the test said "I don't know why Doctor X
ordered this test for you.  According to your chart, you
reported you're having upper-body jerks, but this test is only
for the lower body."

Jo Beth decided to try a different doctor.
