Even though she was off the drugs, Jo Beth's lupus almost
entirely disappeared while she was pregnant.  (Some lupus
moms have the opposite occur.)   However, she did keep
having vaginal bleeding through her pregnancy, and had to go
out on disability early.  It was a very small price to pay for
her first wonderful son, Justin.

A week after having the baby, Jo Beth couldn't walk.
Oh, she could walk.  Just not for the first hour or two after she
woke.  She literally cried with arthritis pain while she was
forced to crawl to her baby, like a baby herself.

Even after she could walk upright, walking was slow and
painful for the first half of the day.  Everything was painful.
