Jo Beth had been highly food-allergic; she wanted to be cautious
with Justin.  He was to be breastfed only.  This was emphasized
to a visiting relative, who, unfortunately, proceeded to give
formula when Jo Beth stepped out.  Later, after a frantic race to
the hospital, with Justin admitted to intensive care, the
pediatrician told Joe and Jo Beth that Justin had been an hour
from death.  He was highly milk-allergic, and, soy-allergic, too.

While in intensive care, little Justin got sicker, and got a
horrendous rash from head to toe that looked exactly like a very
bad case of acne.  The pediatrician suspected neonatal lupus.
This is when a baby doesn't have lupus, but has lupus symptoms
because of time spent sharing mom's blood.

She consulted a neonatal lupus specialist, who agreed.  A
positive "ANA" supported the diagnosis.  The pediatrician told
Jo Beth.  Yet, later, to Jo Beth, the same lupus specialist
pooh-poohed the diagnosis.

Guess WHICH relative it was?
Who thinks Jo Beth should have
smacked THIS doctor one?
After all, we wouldn't want to
worry her pretty little head.
