When Justin was 2 years old, sores erupted around his mouth.
Jo Beth made a doctor's appointment for the next day.  The
next morning, Justin complained that his mouth hurt INside.
Jo Beth was frightened to discover that the entire inside of his
mouth, throat, and even his tongue were covered with bleeding
sores.  Her poor little boy!

The sores looked like the cold sores that SHE got a few times a
year.  Could she have infected Justin?  But she NEVER kissed
her babies on the mouth when she had one!

Unfortunately, the doctor said that she believed the sores were
herpes, and that it was possible that Jo Beth had indeed
infected her son:  Before a sore was visible, it could still infect.
Jo Beth should never again kiss her own children on the mouth.

When they grew older, they found out why Mommy never kissed them on the
mouth.  After that, even kisses on the cheek made them nervous.  Mom's
mouth was SCARY.  (Mom's heart was SAD.)
