On and off, Jo Beth had been getting horrible pains in her right
side.  It felt like a tight band of pain under her ribs and around
and up her back. At times, the pain was so intense she'd find
herself panting in little shallow breaths until it passed.
Sometimes, her urine was filled with blood.

Through repeated kidney infections, Jo Beth went to urologists,
seeking help for the awful pain.  Scans were done, tests were
run.  She did have a "hemangioma" (blood vessel cluster) on her
liver--she was told it meant nothing--But there were no
apparent sores or structural problems with her right kidney.

One doctor told her that because scans showed that her
left
kidney was convoluted, the left side
must be the painful one.
He tried to insist that she didn't know right from  left.

Jo Beth knew, all right.  She left.
