Jo Beth told her rheumatologist about the arm's intermittent
numbness and weakness.  He sent her to a neurologist, who
told her that he could find  nothing wrong.  However, he
kindly did not appear to doubt her; he asked her to come back
when the symptoms were occurring.

A good thought, but not possible, she had already learned,
with managed care.  Front office staff would not let her walk in
without an appointment, and it was hit or miss whether she'd
show symptoms the day and hour of the appointment.
