Hardly into her fifth year of teaching, Jo Beth fell into a deep
depression.  She did not think she could make it to the end of
the year.

She could barely drag herself out of bed.  She felt that her
future was hopeless--She had to work to get out of debt and
have medical insurance, but work was making her more
sick--she'd be too sick to work, and then what about the debt?

On top of the depression, Jo Beth found herself getting really
paranoid.  She didn't know if it was from fatigue or whether the
CNS lupus was causing it.  She started being less friendly to
and more short-tempered with the other teachers, because she
felt they didn't like her.  Which helped some not to like her.
