| By October of '05, Jo Beth was well enough to begin looking for a part-time job. Though it would be only menial work less interesting than what she had been able to do in the past, she was glad to be getting back to work, and she needed the money. While picking up her meds one day, she happened to bump into her lupus doctor and shared with him the good news: "I'm feeling much better! I'm looking for work now!" His prejudiced perception and response were clearly shaped by his doctor friend's nutcase evaluation of Jo Beth: "Well, of course you're feeling better-- Because you're looking for work!" Eyes narrowed and lips tight, Jo Beth responded: "Actually, I felt better after being back on the Plaquenil and Naproxen for two months, and because I felt better, I was finally able to start looking for work." |
